The Trailers
- The college prank Sulley plays on Mike in ane of the teaser trailers: sticking foil all over him, then turning out the lights and hanging him up as a disco brawl.
- Mike'due south mumbling in his slumber, which is mostly followed by giggles. And nosotros see Sulley looming up on him with a bottle of Monster glue named "GLEWW" with a mischievous smiling on his face.
- "Class President? Ha...Ha..."
- "I can't go to school, I am non wearing any clothes..."
- "My pony made the Dean'south listing..." (this 1 was plain a fan favorite, and Pixar artists actually drew the literal pony with Mike in Monsters University for Mike's dream!)
- "My homework ate my domestic dog..."
- And and so followed by the other monsters partying outside Mike'southward room until he comes out, and they apply him every bit a makeshift disco ball.
- AND then nosotros see Mike beingness strung upwards as a disco ball for a slow dance, with Sulley eating chips and saying, "I honey college." and snapping a photograph of Mike.
The Film/Moving picture
- Piffling Mike calling his teacher, Ms. Graves, by her first proper name and her response:
Karen: Delight don't call me Karen.
- In the prologue, "Frightening" Frank McCay the Scarer'southward reaction to the Monster Inc staff all crowding around him with burn down extinguishers, first aid boxes, walkie-talkies, frozen with anxiety and fear plastered on their faces, was a rather flat and deadpan, "what?"
- The big ear-to-ear (or mayhap, horn-to-horn) smiling that Little Mike has when he walks out of the child's room on his field trip to MI.
- The RA's. For anyone who went to college and stayed in the dorms, it's both hilarious and slow that they are only as Keet and every bit genki as in existent life.
- The RA's (also known as the smile team) are named Jay, Kay, Trey, and Fay. Additionally, there'due south a fifth member who assigns new students their room who (according to the Monsters University Fearbook) is named Ray.
- Mike can barely be seen on his higher I.D. card.
- The lunchroom scene, which is also in the trailers
:Initiation tour guide: The MU cafeteria has some of the all-time chefs in the world!
A large purple gelatinous luncheon lady monster picks upwardly the trash can that students accept been throwing away their food in and dumps information technology back onto the food counter. The monsters continuing there brainstorm to dig in with relish.
- Many of the lodge members at their booths during Orientation Twenty-four hours are a hoot, for those alumni who remember how much they stood out. The Art Club booth member dunks his head into some paint, and sloshes it onto a canvass.
- Claire and Brock advertising the scare games.
Claire: You could totally die.
Brock: AND It'Due south WORTH IT! - When Mike is virtually to meet his new roommate and reminds himself that he is "about to meet the bestest friend I'll always have". Cue the menacing silhouette of Randall Boggs. Unlike his Monsters, Inc. self, notwithstanding, Randall is awkward and polite to Mike.
- When "Randy" turns invisible, he thinks that doing so will make him expect lame in front of the others. Mike has to spell out that he could use it to be a more than effective scarer… if he gets rid of his glasses.
- A snail monster tries to race to class on his starting time day. You can encounter what that means.
- Course, it's even better when you come across during The Stinger that he finally made it to his first grade... Simply to find out information technology's summertime suspension.
- When Dean Hardscrabble is asked to requite the obligatory "words of inspiration" spoken language, not only does she only put pressure on the Scare Program students, she gives us this when she has finished her speech:
Dean Hardscrabble: I promise you are all properly inspired.
- Randall holding a tray of cupcakes! Said cupcakes each have a letter arranged to spell "exist my pal"! And if you sentry Monsters University in another language, the cupcakes take icing on them, which is essentially Randall's eyes, spectacles, and a smile.
- For more Randall fun, look at his side of the room in this clip.
He appears to have designer sheets, a baggage set, and slippers of his own face.- Even better, if yous wait closely at his motivational poster, yous can see that it says "The Winds of Change," and, under that, "Shh... You hear that?"
- At the social, Mike rides the Fear Tech mascot pig and bumps into Randall, who tosses the cupcakes into the air and land on his face up to grade the word "LAME".
- Continuing with Randall, early on his new roommate Mike suggests that he lose his spectacles considering they mess up his invisibility routine. He does and then and immediately acquires his trademark squint from the first movie.
- For more Randall fun, look at his side of the room in this clip.
- In that location'due south simply something funny about Sulley explaining who ROR is and and so throwing Mike nether the bed to fetch Archie.
Sulley "They only take the highly elite. Okay, I'll lift the bed and you lot catch the pig."
- Notation that Mike'southward scream is the same every bit the one he has in the first moving-picture show.
- Sulley bowling over the guy with the guitar when chasing Fright Tech's mascot.
- In a football game, the monster carrying the ball gets tackled by a bigger monster...only to be tackled by an even bigger monster.
- Who then literally bulldozes through to the end of the field, dragging a whole bunch of other players behind him, and knocks over the goalpost for adept measure out.
- When ROR await over Sulley's test results, the professor's marks to the question:
All Scarer techniques are based on the various Key Fears of humans. What is the basis of the Zombie Slouch?
[ ] Fearfulness of the living expressionless
[ ] Lion attacks
[x] Sharks
Really? Zombie sharks?!- Not to mention, everything else written in Sulley's test results.
- In Mike'due south "Upwardly to the Concluding" montage, he is cleaning the flooring with a drivable cleaner while studying. Without noticing, he sucks up a furry monster, and it comes out looking similar a puffball. Can be seen just later the 30-second mark here.
And many other students were either diving out of the manner or getting knocked over by him. One fifty-fifty lets out the famous Wilhelm scream. - Scream Canister Design class is hilariously boring, especially with Professor Brandywine'south blueprint that captures a dull professor. He fifty-fifty takes a huge boring breath.
- At the first of the class, Brandywine holds a traditional speech about how "some consider a career in scream can pattern wearisome; unchallenging; a waste of a monster's potential" - merely to then fail to pay it off, and just tell the students to open their books. Information technology makes it clear that he's one of those people as well.
- A subtle one, but only to highlight how boring and unchallenging the grade is, while the residual of the movie's technology like the scare simulators are more than underdeveloped than in Inc., the scream canisters look exactly the aforementioned over decades.
- Later Mike and Sulley are kicked out of the scaring program, Sulley follows Mike around glaring at him at uncomfortably close distances. The best, however, is when Mike goes into his room; Sulley, rather than post-obit, just stands outside the door and glares at information technology, waiting until Mike emerges so he tin continue glaring at him. How long, exactly, was Sulley planning on standing out there?
- Terri and Terry.
Terri: "I'm a dance major!"
Terry: "And I'm non."
- And so Terri tries to practise an impromptu dance, which Terry refuses to keep with.
Terri: "Why didn't you turn?"
Terry: "'Cause we never agreed to practice this!"
Terri: "You said this was gonna be cool!"
Terry: "No one said this was gonna be absurd."
Terri: "Now I'm embarrassed."
Terry: "NOW you're embarrassed?"
Terri: "Aye, because information technology's in front of people!"
Terry: "You should wake upwardly embarrassed."
- Annihilation said by Art.
"I want to affect them.", "Yep, I wanna touch them." and "I'm gonna touch them!"
- Squishy's mom Sherri interrupting the initiation.
- Mike using Sulley's hand every bit a pillow, and was virtually to kiss it when he woke up. And when Sulley falls out of his top-bunk bed and wakes upwards in a panic.
Sulley: "What are you doing?!"
Mike: "Your grubby manus was in my bed!"
Sulley: "Were y'all kissing my hand?!"
Mike: "Hahaha...no. What nigh you and all your shedding?!"
- This moment:
Mike: We have everything to win right here. (points at his chest)
Squishy: (smiles) Center.
- Mike to Sulley: "It's an obstacle course, what are you gonna practise? Roar at information technology?"
- And this gem:
Mike: I am going to beat you over the finish line.
Sulley: Become set up to eat my dust.
Squishy: Hey guys, should we huddle upwards?
- Prior to the first Scare Games claiming:
Terry: Uh, good luck, ladies!
PNK girl: Thanks! Nosotros're gonna rip y'all to pieces! *cue Carmine Eyes, Take Warning stare and snarl*
- Fine art jumping into a bunch of toxicant needle balls and hugging them, screaming, "I want to touch them!". You tin can pretty much approximate what happens next.
- Don's wonderful cursing when he accidentally stepped on the poison needle balls. Cue Squishy covering his ears.
"Cheese and Crackers!"
"Son of a Mustache!"
- Terri and Terry also got hitting past the poison needle balls too. Terri's reaction to Terry's swelling head was priceless.
- Becomes Fridge Luminescence when you remember they're Conjoined Twins. He probably felt that too!
- Squishy being hit by enough toxicant balls him puff up similar a ball (Big time!). He accidentally swallowed 1 (because a wiggle spectator threw one in his mouth while he was screaming), and the rest of the OK gang has to roll him out of the obstacle course.
Squishy: I can't feel my anything.
- And later...when Mike and Sulley crossed the end line:
Sulley: (slurred) Take that, Wazowski!
Mike: (slurred) Are you delirious? I crush you!
Sulley: Become your eyes checked!
- Note that Mike is pointing a finger upwards at Sulley, and because his finger is puffed upwardly, it looks like he'south flipping Sulley the bird.
- George Sanderson's Butt-Monkey status is retained in this movie. His fraternity was disqualified from the first issue because they used anti-poison gel, which a referee proves by using a poison needle to puff upwards Sanderson's leg. Every bit evidenced past his reaction, he did not savour the feeling.
- When Sulley suggests finding replacements for their teammates, Mike's refusal initially sounds like a refusal to carelessness the people who joined him when nobody else would... before revealing that he already thought about getting replacements but can't because it's against the rules.
- Squishy's ability to move silently and nearly instantly gets on Mike'southward fretfulness
Mike: Male child, we gotta get you a bell...
- The Librarian who turns into a giant tentacle monster if she hears whatsoever noise in her library, and demonstrating what she does to noisemakers by throwing Thaddeus Bile through the skylight and into a nearby river.
- Oozma Kappa getting covered in paint, glitter and stuffed animals, with the photo being posted all over campus. Bonus points for the picture being on Chet'southward coffee mug. Better bonus for all of the Oozma Kappas looking surprised and mortified, except for Fine art, who is smiling.
- Mike trying to stop Johnny from selling the "Cute-ma Kappa" picture.
Mike: Hey! What do you recall you're doing?
Johnny: Raising a niggling money for clemency.
Mike: Yeah well, stop it!
Chet: THIS GUY HATES CHARITY!
- The scene where Oozma Kappa is trying to avoid being defenseless past Monsters Inc. security.
Sherri: Seatbelts!
Everyone fastens their seatbelts.
Squishy: Okay, become!
Sherri: Does anyone desire gum?
Squishy: JUST Drive!!- When she drives the Oozma Kappas on their "field trip" to the Monsters Inc. factory, she waits in the van "listening to her tunes." Said "tunes" are "Island"
past Mastodon.
- When she drives the Oozma Kappas on their "field trip" to the Monsters Inc. factory, she waits in the van "listening to her tunes." Said "tunes" are "Island"
- This gem is mentioned in the Junior Novelization of Monsters University: This line is really vaguely heard in the pic.
"Let's go break in somewhere else!"
- and one more, besides from the same book:
Mike: Ok, pop quiz fourth dimension! What's more scary than a man child?
Art: (raises his hand) Two homo children?
- The swinging-out boards painted with human teenagers on them in i of the monsters' Scare Games competitions, "Don't Scare the Teen".
- Even better is the fact that Carrie breathes burn down at the latter lath in anger at PNK's disqualification by instinctively scaring every teen board, as if she'southward thinking "Close UP!"
- Training for the 'hide-and-seek' contest (Mike calls out their methods of hiding):
- Art was the one standing out in the open up, staring at a butterfly, not moving at all.
- Don: "Thanks! I cannot go downwardly."
- Chet's response at the stop of this exchange.
Worthington: After you lose, no one volition remember y'all.
Mike: Maybe, but when you lose, no one volition let y'all forget it.
Chet: Oh… boy. [[{{Touché}} That is a good point]]. (Worthington then dope slaps him) - What's Sully'south simulator scared of? Thunder and lions.
- Claire (the three-eyed goth Scare Games host) cheering and going wild at the cease of the final challenge subsequently spending nigh of the movie looking bored.
Claire: THEY DID It! AAAAAAGGGHHHHH!
- This doesn't practise it justice. She spends the entire movie looking incredibly annoyed at her extremely energetic partner, saying most everything in full deadpan. When Oozma Kappa wins, leaving him for once completely dumbstruck, she tackles him out of the frame and jumps up and down similar an over-excited sports fan.
- The practise child's scream when Mike snaps his fingers. It was supposed to be a wham moment when he realizes he'due south been betrayed, but it was likewise funny considering how unexpected and loud the scream was.
- Don Carlton trying to distract Dean Hardscrabble and the police force. It doesn't finish well.
Don Carlton: How many times take you asked yourself the following question...?
Dean Hardscrabble: Arrest him.
Don Carlton: Pardon? (gets tackled past the police) - Don Carlton getting engaged to Sherri, and his awkward and increasingly uncomfortable style of describing his new relationship to Squishy as a result.
-
"Think of the states equally brothers who share the aforementioned mother/married woman. No, wait, that's even worse.
-
- Roz's cameo as the head of the CDA, telling the school that she's ever watching.
- The Abominable Snowman's cameo in the Monsters Inc. mailroom, in which he reveals that tampering with the postal service is a banishable offense. This qualifies as Refrigerator Horror also.
- Waternoose's cameo at the terminate of the film, in which he has an afro and facial hair.
- The dissimilarity between our chief duo and Randall between this picture show and its predecessor/successor is pretty amusing, and makes the get-go film kinda funny in retrospect. For starters, the humorously awkward feeling of knowing Randall and Mike used to be roommates. At that place's as well the fact that Sulley used to be a self jock and Randall was an awkward (if slimy) nerd. There's also the realization of why Mike is so bad with his paperwork - he spent all his time in school working on scaring techniques.
Meta/Other
- When that year's Academy Honor nominations were appear and the flick was notably absent from the listing of Best Blithe Feature nominees, director Dan Scanlon responded by simply tweeting "Tuxedo for auction."
- I from the short: Sherri'southward plough at "door jamming" - jumping through one portal and out the other. She goes through the parents' room, in slo-mo, on fire, curlers, housedress, and all. It's the boggled humans' expression that sells it.
- The parents asking their footling boy if they could sleep in his room because of the monsters, and the exasperated kid going "That's what I've been trying to tell you!"
- Discussion of God says that Dean Hardscrabble was a fellow member of Eta Hiss Hiss - the Goth sorority.
- The official Monsters U website, aside from being a perfect university-homepage pastiche, includes profiles of the Oozma Kappa gang. From Terry and Terri's interview, we - and Terry - larn that Terri likes to relax by watching Terry sleep.
Terry: "Yous do what? I'm never sleeping again."
- Artwork for the Disney Theme Parks exists of Mike dressed every bit a pumpkin, scaring several of the Disney Villains. One thing is certain almost this: Hardscrabble was really wrong about Mike not being "scary".
